The Space Seeds Experiment is designed for students in grades 3-5. It teaches the application of scientific method to the problem of determining if space flight alters the growth characteristics of seeds flown into space. Each class recieves a kit containing a control group of seeds, and a package of seeds flown into space. Students perform careful analysis of the seeds including weights and measurements, daily growth estimates, nutrient and hydration monitoring, and color charting. Students in each class upload the observations to an online data collection facility where results from all 2500 classrooms are stored and compared. Statistical tracking, comparative analysis, and data gathering skills are all part and parcel of the methods used by the students to carry out this interesting life science experiment. If your interested in carrying out this unique experiment in your class room please signup now and when the materials from the SL-2 launch are ready for distribution you will be contacted for inclusion in this FREE experiment. |
